🎃 Howl-A-Ween 🎃

There are some veterinary practices that celebrate Halloween. I mean, they are of the philosophy of "go big or go home". Some veterinary practices are of the opinion that they are not going to acknowledge that that Halloween exists. And of course there are the middle of the road folks and everything in between. Which ever camp you fall into, you do you!

But... (you knew that was coming!), if you fall into the camp of not acknowledging Halloween, I am going to ask you to let up the reigns just a bit!

A great way to help create teamwork and boost morale is to involve your staff in decorating a veterinary hospital. Your staff gets tired of looking at the same 4 walls everyday. I bet deep down, you do too!

Set a budget for staff to purchase decorations, or provide them yourself. I promise....Clients will notice and comment! As a rule, please make sure that you do not decorate with anything that could harm a pet, or that is too gory for children that come to your practice.

To take to our theme a bit further, here are a few ideas to consider:

🎃 Have a Halloween themed bowl of candy on the front desk. One for people and one for pets!

🎃 Let the staff decorate a door in the hospital, or better yet, have them team up and hold a competition where clients get to vote on the best one!

🎃 For the more creative and willing hospitals, hold a Haunted Veterinary Hospital night!

🎃 If you have a place to decorate outside of the hospital, put up outdoor decorations or light projections on the hospital.

🎃 Have fun on social media and hold a pet costume contest.

🎃 Host a team pumpkin decorating night. Post the pumpkin pictures on social media and the winner gets bragging rights (or a small prize!)

Whatever you decide to do, stay true to your practice. If this is not your thing, that is OK. Something else will be! But Halloween can be a lot fun and it can be very impressive to see just what your staff can do! It might surprise you!
